National Apprenticeship Week 2023, 6th - 12th February 2023
This week seeks to highlight and celebrate apprenticeships. Apprenticeships play a vital part in the skills agenda of our country; they help employers to recruit the right people and they help individuals to develop the right skills.
Employing apprenticeships in your business can have a really positive impact not only on the lives of young people but on your business. It can be a cost effective way to increase staffing levels whilst training new staff to work long term in your business. It can bring fresh new ideas to your company.
Find an Apprenticeship Provider
We would recommend using an apprenticeship provider. Talk to your local college, they will be able to help you find an apprentice and support you with the training framework. There are also independent apprenticeship providers.
Funding
There is a £1,000 payment available to employers for apprentices who, at the start of their apprenticeship, are:
Aged between 16 and 18 years old
Aged between 19 and 24 years old and have an Education, Health and Care plan
Depending on your business size and eligibility, most apprenticeship training costs are either fully or partially (95%) funded by the government, helping you to upskill your team on a budget.
The Government website has lots of information on funding but your apprenticeship provider will also be able to discuss this with you.
A great benefit of employing an apprentice is that you can adapt their training according to the needs of your business. You can employ apprentices at different levels, from school leavers and university graduates, to people who want to further their careers or change career direction completely. You can hire someone new or upskill an existing employee.

Skills For Life
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is "Skills for Life"; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
